OAS, CPP and GIS payment dates: what arrives Friday and how to calculate your deposit
Service Canada will deposit September's retirement income on Friday, September 25. That's the third-to-last business day of the month, which is when CPP, OAS, and GIS payments land every month. If you use direct deposit, funds typically appear by morning. Paper cheques arrive later, depending on Canada Post.
What arrives Friday
The Old Age Security maximum for September is $751.97 if you're between 65 and 74. If you're 75 or older, the government adds a permanent 10% bump, bringing the maximum to $827.17. That increase was implemented to offset higher costs later in life, and it applies automatically once you hit 75.
The Canada Pension Plan maximum is $1,507.65 for new beneficiaries starting at 65, but most people don't collect anywhere near that. Most people don't collect the maximum because it requires contributions at the yearly ceiling for roughly 39 years. The maximum requires 39 years of contributions at the yearly ceiling. If you worked part-time, took years off, or didn't max out your contributions, your payment will be lower.
The Guaranteed Income Supplement is for OAS recipients with low income. It's non-taxable and recalculated every year based on your previous tax return. You must be receiving OAS to qualify. If you delay OAS to age 70 for the higher monthly benefit, you forfeit GIS during those five years.
How to calculate your deposit
Log into your My Service Canada Account. Your exact payment amount is listed under "View Latest Claim." The number doesn't change month to month unless there's a cost-of-living adjustment or a clawback.
OAS adjusts quarterly (January, April, July, October) based on the Consumer Price Index. CPP adjusts annually every January. If your net world income exceeds $95,323 for the 2026 tax year, the government claws back OAS at 15 cents per dollar over the threshold.
Keep your banking information current. Service Canada requires updated direct deposit details to avoid interruptions. If you moved or changed banks and didn't notify them, Friday's deposit may not arrive.
